How Owlesq Works: Our Research Methodology

What Owlesq Is

Owlesq is an independent editorial directory of software tools for law firms. We research, compile, and evaluate legaltech products to help attorneys and firm administrators make better buying decisions.

We are not a software vendor, a reseller, or a consulting firm. We do not perform hands-on software testing of every listed tool.

How We Research Tools

Our listings and rankings are built from publicly available sources:

• Vendor documentation — pricing pages, feature lists, product documentation, and official press releases
• User review platforms — aggregated ratings and review text from G2, Capterra, Software Advice, and TrustRadius
• Industry research — ABA TechReport annual survey data, legal tech analyst coverage, bar association resources
• Pricing verification — pricing data is verified against official vendor websites as of the date shown on each page

We do not accept payment from vendors to influence our rankings or editorial assessments. Owlesq currently has no affiliate, referral, or revenue-share relationships with any vendor listed and earns no commission on outbound clicks.

How We Rank Tools

Each tool listing includes:

• Pricing dataverified against the vendor’s live pricing page, updated periodically. When pricing is not publicly available (“contact for pricing”), we note that explicitly rather than estimating.
• Feature summaries drawn from vendor documentation and product marketing materials, attributed to the source.
• User sentimentdrawn from G2 and Capterra rating distributions, noted as “user reviews report” to distinguish from our own editorial conclusions.
• Editorial assessment — our verdict on which firm types and use cases each tool fits best, based on the above sourced data.

What We Don’t Do

• We do not trial, install, or use the software we list.
• We do not publish fabricated test results or staged screenshots.
• We do not publish “verified by us” claims unless we have actually verified the specific data point against a primary source.
• We do not accept payment for favorable editorial coverage.

Freshness and Accuracy

Pricing and feature information can change. Each page shows a “Last reviewed” date indicating when we last verified the content against public sources. If you notice outdated information, please contact us — we will update it promptly.

Commercial Relationships

As of May 2026, Owlesq has no affiliate, referral, or revenue-share relationships with any vendor listed on this site, and earns no commission when readers click outbound links. Tools are included or excluded based on their relevance to law firm buyers, not on commercial arrangements. If this changes, we will disclose the specific relationship prominently on every page where it applies before the arrangement takes effect.
